The Avalon Project : Letters Patent to Sir Humfrey Gylberte June 11, 1578 __ "Elizabeth by the grace of God Queeneof England, &c. To all people to whom these presents shall come, greeting. ... Humphrey Gilbert __ "Sir Humphrey Gilbert (c. 1537 – 1583) was an English adventurer from Devon, who served the crown during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of England.
