Ancient China Gallery 1

Ancient China is one of those "ancient" cultures which lasted into late times.  The Aztecs and Inca did not fall till the 16th century and "ancient" China did not end till the fall of the last emperor in the 20th century.  So some of the images presented here may be quite recent in time but still represent an "ancient" civilization.

The four bronze animals below are from the Han (hahn) dynasty which lasted between 206 B.C. -220 A.D. The average size is 4.5-7 cm (1.7-2.7 in) long and 3.5-8.6 c, (1.3 -3.3 in) tall. The figures were excavated in 1974 from Yanshi district, Henan and are part of the Henan Provincial Museums collection.
